THE SPARK
It all started around a gaming table .
It all started with Joël, who hosted game nights at La Récréation. That’s where he met his two future partners: Benoit and Justin. They shared a common dream—not just a board game café, but a proper bar where you could have a drink (and a bite to eat) while playing.
THE BOLD MOVE
Normand and the crazy idea for the 2nd floor
A well-known actor and a gamer at heart, Normand D'Amour joined the project right from the start. Justin had approached him at Le Valet de Coeur, where Normand was a regular customer. While visiting the premises for the future Randolph, Normand floated a bold idea: renting the second floor as well. This doubled the floor space, the number of tables... and the risk. Yet, it was this gamble that transformed a small project into a true institution. In 2012, Randolph Quartier Latin opened its doors on Saint-Denis Street.

WHY RANDOLPH?
A nod to Alex Randolph
Our name pays tribute to Alex Randolph, a pioneer of modern board games. In the 1960s and 1970s, his vision inspired an entire generation of game designers. Ask to play Ricochet Robots, TwixT, or Stupide Vautour to name just a few.
A story that continues
Over the years, the team has evolved and new partners have joined the venture, including Sébastien Nadeau—who is also the mayor of L'Assomption—and Martin Montreuil, known in the gaming industry for his YouTube channel, La société des jeux.
The spirit, however, has remained unchanged since 2012: bringing people together around a table.
