On an Egyptian holiday, players are visiting the highlight of the entire journey: the stone pyramids! But after rising through the narrow, labyrinthine corridors, they discover that they've lost the rest of the group. After wandering for hours, they end up in a mysterious grave chamber — and suddenly the stone door closes behind them. The players are caught. On the floor is a sand-covered notebook and an ancient spinning code dial. Will the players escape in time or be forever buried under stone?
nIn EXIT: The Game – The Pharaoh's Tomb, players must use their team spirit, creativity, and powers of deduction to crack codes, solve puzzles, collect objects, and earn their freedom bit by bit. n nPrep your mind and sharpen your riddle skills to make your escape. n
Thames & Kosmos presents a puzzling card game called Exit: The Game. The goal of this game is quite simple: escape a mysterious room as fast as you can, but that will prove to be a challenge.
nThe game presents players with various pictures of tightly locked safes that can only be “unlocked” by completing a series of mysterious puzzles. Said puzzles, and their potential solutions, come in the form of separate decks of cards: Riddle Cards and Answer Cards. Players ages 12 and up must use their cards, a special puzzle decoder, and a good amount of intuition to solve each puzzle and unlock enough secrets to help them escape. n nDifferent versions of the game feature different scenarios. Players will find themselves “trapped” in secret labs, abandoned cabins, or even a pharaoh’s tomb. The different versions of the game feature unique puzzles and various gimmicks for players to utilize toward their escape. n nExit allows for one to six players to join in on the brain-bending fun. One person can take on the mental challenge and try to solve all the puzzles alone, or multiple players can put their heads together and brainstorm potential solutions for each riddle (recommended). Players who feel especially stuck on certain puzzles can look to special Help Cards to assist in their escape. Since the game encourages players to finish it as fast as possible, each copy provides a special timesheet that players can use to record their total playtime as well as the amount of Help Cards used to give them an in-game score on how well they did. The less time taken and less Help Cards used, the better your score. n nPuzzles can be mind-boggling and even downright frustrating to solve, but having a momentary stroke of genius and solving a difficult riddle will leave players with immense satisfaction. Without giving too much away, the solutions to the game are creative in execution and fun to discover. The game will encourage players to use scratch paper to draw out ideas, fold pieces of the game, or even draw on the cards themselves to work out an answer. This game is perfect for developing intuitive thinking and sharpening minds. n nThe game has one major drawback, however. A given player can only play a game of Exit once before learning all of its secrets. Once players solve all the puzzles and make their escape, the challenge is gone as anyone who played it will already know the solutions. But, the fun can easily continue. Players can try exploring the game with other friends and watching them try to surmount the same mental challenges, or pass it along to another group looking for a fun game night adventure. n nDo you have what it takes to solve the riddles and exit the pharaoh's tomb?
